There's Nothing Better for Treating Rust than Owatrol
RA85 is based on the unique Owatrol Oil formula but has aluminium pigment added in to give a lovely silvery appearance.
Owatrol Aluminium RA85 can be used in a couple of ways, for instance, on heavily rusted steel, saturate first with Owatrol Oil,
descale after a few hours and top coat later with two coats of RA85. You can expect at least 5 years before you see rust there again.
On lightly rusted surfaces, where there is no serious scale or depth, you can apply the RA85 direct to the rusted surface, where it
literally soaks in, and like Owatrol oil, it penetrates right in to the good steel forming a bond which keeps out moisture, water and air.
Owatrol Aluminium RA85 is most unusual in that it is very flexible when it dries out.
This feature comes into play when steel becomes warm from sunshine or contracts in the cold. The RA85 will stretch or contract with
the steel and provides a long lasting, sound coating.
The silver colour may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it lasts.
You could also overcoat the RA85 with a black gloss of your choice, in which case your steel will have a skin of flexible RA85 underneath
which will add to the quality of the job done.
The only thing to bear in mind with the RA85 is that it does take quite a while to dry out fully, so allow for that.

Test this yourself by painting some of it directly on to an old plastic shopping bag, leave to dry for a week or so, and then, no matter how
hard you try, you will not scrape off the RA85, and if you push your finger out most of the way through the bag, forming a ‘bulge’ you will
see that the coating will simply stretch with the bulging plastic, proving the extreme flexibility this coating offers!
