General Detail

Left unprotected, newly exposed exterior wood like decking, wooden garden furniture, cladding etc, can crack or warp.

Oils, stains etc simply don’t penetrate the new wood properly!

Left unprotected, newly exposed exterior wood like decking, wooden garden furniture,

Seasonite New Wood Treatment is designed to protect your new deck or other
exterior wood from the damaging effects of the sun and moisture.

Sun and moisture can cause splitting, swelling, cupping, and warping in new wood.

That’s why it’s essential to protect wood with Seasonite in its vulnerable, first year.

Seasonite protects pressure-treated wood, cedar, redwood and other exterior wood in one convenient coating.

After a year or so of Seasonite protection, your wood will be ready for a finish such as Textrol. Anti-UV wood finish.

Seasonite is Like NO other Wood Treatment

Seasonite is quite unique in that it was developed specifically to protect new wood when exposed to the weather.

Why use Seasonite?

Oils, stains etc simply don’t penetrate new wood properly because the pores are closed!

When wooden planks are being milled they usually pass through planer blades to smooth the surface off, and that action, combined with the natural resins, juices etc present in the wood, manage to seal the woods pores shut making them difficult to treat with most oils, stains etc.

Here''s How Seasonite Works.

Seasonite acts like a one way valve that allows trapped excess moisture escape and prevents ''new'' water / moisture getting in.

It is the ideal product to keep your wood in first class condition & protect it while going through that ''weathering'' process which is necessary if your wood is to be prepared properly for treatment later by oils etc.

When wood gets wet it expands and when it dries out again, it contracts.

These expansion / contraction cycles frequently result in cracking, warping, splitting cupping etc and as you know.. your wood will lose a lot of its appeal in that condition.

Because Seasonite stops water / moisture getting into the wood, the expansion / contraction cycles are drastically reduced if not eliminated altogether.

Summary:
Seasonite keeps your wood in first class condition during its most difficult period, after beinig in a tree and now left exposed to the ravages of the weather.

Why Seasonite Works

As you will have read above, Seasonite keeps the wood in first class order up until the time comes to treat it with Textrol or some other oil.

You can then apply the treatment of your choice.

Another Huge Benefit of Seasonite

Seasonite has a Fungicide built in and that plays a very important role in preventing the growth of Algae etc.

Algae is the main reason decking becomes slippery when wet.

Seasonite applied to new decking is your best insurance against slippery conditions.

The Fungicide is also important for protecting other wood such as cladding, log cabins, gazebos, fencing etc.

Seasonite does not prevent the wood from going grey. That is a natural process, but you can remove all traces of that grey with a sister product called Net-Trol when the time comes for oiling etc.

My Timber is Pressure Treated, Why Would I want Seasonite?

A common misconception is that many people think or assume that when wood is pressure treated, it is protected from splitting, warping, swelling, cupping and so on. NOT SO.

Pressure treatment is designed to protect timber from rotting and being eaten by certain insects. It does NOT protect your wood from any of the above.

On the contrary, left unprotected, your prize wooden decking or whatever will soon look like a heap of old pallets, greyed out and probably split, warped etc.

Some unscrupulous decking contractors unwittingly or otherwise, mislead people either through ignorance or an genuine lack of real knowledge on the subject of How to Care for Wood. In many cases, from fear of putting off an installation deal, they have been known to state that "The timber WE use is pressure treated and does not need any further treatment!" blah blah.

Bottom line here is... To keep your wood looking great, like it should, you need to take care of it and Seasonite should be the first strp in that process.

One more Very Important Reason Why You Should Use Seasonite on New Wood in Particular

If you build a deck or install a log cabin or any other such structure outside the best of our ''summer weather'' and decide to go straight for an oil of some sort.. think again.. Here are four points to consider.

(1) It is almost certain that the wood will contain a high water / moisture content.
(2) The pores will not be very receptive to treatment with oils etc
(3) It is not a good idea to apply oils etc on to wood that is damp, or where the
pores are not receptive. In many cases, that coating will peel right off because
it cannot penetrate the pores properly

(4) Oils etc applied on to wood that is too fresh might look great for a while but it
will last no time at all. You will be disappointed and your money will be down
the drain..

Some people say "Listen, I want my wood oiled now, I don''t want to wait until next year or waste my money applying some ''temporary'' product"

My answer to that is..Its your wood, your money, your taste and your choice.

At least make your decision based on the FACTS.
