Deep Penetrating, Non-Peel, Oil Finish For Exterior Woods, Rustic Oak

Textrol Rustic Oak is the darkest of the three Textrol wood tone's. Somewhat reddish in shade. Has a darker / hardwood type look and because it has more pigment in it that the other two Textrol's, it is the longest lasting from point of view of fading from UV etc.  (Textrol is now available in a weathered grey finish)

Penetrating oil finish / decking oil for weathered wood which protects against moisture and UV damage

    • Developed for weathered wood
    • Penetrates and protects from within the wood
    • Non film forming – does not crack, peel or flake

    • Properties
    • Use on horizontal and vertical surfaces.
    • Excellent penetration- Textrol soaks deep into the wood, does not clot or congeal on the surface.
    • Protects against moisture and UV damage.
    • Quick and easy to apply – “wet on wet” application.
    • Provides mildew resistance.
    • Easy maintenance – no stripping or sanding.

    Destination

    • Soft or hardwoods: Cedar, Larch, Pine (pressure treated or not), Ash, Oak …
    • Can be applied to both horizontal surfaces (decks, walkways) and vertical surfaces (cladding, shingles, fences) and other exterior wood structures
    • Do not use on new wood – use Seasonite instead.

    Application

    • Apply an application of Textrol and allow it to penetrate for 15-30 minutes.
    • Apply a second application and allow it to penetrate for 15-30 minutes.
    • Repeat this procedure until the wood is saturated i.e. will accept no more oil.
    • Do not allow Textrol to become touch dry or dry between coats (apply “wet on wet”).
    • Once the timber is saturated, brush out or wipe off any excess oil that has not penetrated to avoid shiny spots.
    • The appearance of Textrol gradually lightens over time due to exposure to the sun and UV rays. When the wood has lightened to a light grey colour, it is time for a maintenance application.
    • Refer to the packaging for maintenance procedure.

    Multicoat coverage : 5 m²/l

    Coverage rate for maintenance : 10 to 12 m²/l

Application tools : stiff bristle - brush - airless spray

    Application temperature : 5°C to +35°C

    Working time : 24 to 48 h.

    Clean-up : White-Spirit

"I had my Cedar chalet beside the sea done in Textrol two years ago and it still looks fabulous. It was previously treated with another finish that peeled which I had stripped off, & I'm delighted with the way the Textrol turned out"

“I used the Net-trol and Textrol on my deck and garden furniture. I was absolutely delighted with the results. In particular on the garden furniture, it wasn't just an improvement - but anyone that saw the results asked me if we had bought new furniture. I don't think I would have tried the products had it not been for the exceptional, expert and patient advice that Brendan Igoe gave me over the phone. From product selection, application advice, even colour choice etc - Brendan was a gem and his help very much appreciated.”

By Eamonn Sinnott Home Owner Meath, Textrol

"I've used virtually all oils on the market and now I would nothing except textrol"

By D Mulrenan Home Owner, Textrol

"Whenever I need my decking and gazebo oiled I use only textrol"

By M Maher Home Owner, Textrol

We found the Cleaner very efficient, it brought the cedar shingle roof back to life and the textrol finishing oil gave it back it’s depth & protection. The overall result was very impressive. Both products were easy to use & clear instructions were given. We would certainly use them again." Kind Regards

How To Take Care Of New Exposed Wood

How To Take Care Of New Exposed Wood

New wood should not be painted or oiled too soon

The first year is the worst year for newly sawn / planed wood exposed to the elements. If you are installing new timber decking, log home, cladding etc, applying conventional wood treatments too soon is not a good idea. Newly planed wood is not very receptive to conventional treatments because the woods pores are still closed from the planer blades and natural resins etc present.
